Perseus Pathos Scale

Psychopath: estranged from self and society, no insight
Sociopath: estranged from society, or coterie or sub-culture
Sympathetic: neutral, fence sitter
Empath: attuned to the prevailing societies mores at the prevailing time
Telepath: attuned to archetypal society mores, insight to a high degree

British Telepath is not very reliable nowadays. Best to go mobile.

1988 Christian Sci. Monitor (Nexis) 4 Mar. B4 The appeal to reason..is in danger of being lost in the electronic appeal to emotion (pathos) and to portray the politician's character (ethos) in the most favourable light.

2. In reference to ancient æsthetic criticism and rhetoric.
Aristotle's statement that Polygnotus excelled all other painters in the representation of ‘ethos’ app. meant simply that his pictures expressed ‘character’; but as Aristotle elsewhere says that this painter portrayed men as nobler than they really are, some mod. writers have taken ethos to mean ‘ideal excellence.’ The opposition of ethos and pathos (‘character’ and ‘emotion’), often wrongly ascribed to Aristotle's theory of art as expounded in the Poetics, really belongs only to Greek rhetoric.

The sympath sits of the fence and the empath is on your side (your view) whereas the sociopath is on the Other side

Giving it all away.

You could, if you were so inclined, construct a continuum of pathos.

Pyschopath - Sociopath - Symphasiser - Empathiser - Telepath

At the malignant end is the independent psychopath at odds with God
and the world, to the sociopath at odds with society - to the normal
sympathiser that expresses comprehension if not understanding.

Then you could mitigate the feelings (=pathos) with philosophical or
religious standpoints. I am not so sure this is necessary.

However, unless an artificial cultural (your coterie) norm is
created, these are all relative to your position on the continuum.

Women may be on the greater pathos to the left on the list above.
This may be sexually genetic, but there is a strong case for this
being environmental.

It could even be argued that sociopathy has a functional use for the
independent striver for wealth. Then the social system reins in the
acquirer of wealth by the use of the taxation system. The wife takes
the housekeeping.

That is if you know your primary narcissist leader. Your adversary
may actually be a soldier or drone exhibiting a passive-aggressive
tendency. If the boss is a chaotic, the dependent may appear bi-
polar.

Please save us from chaos.
