Trope's Explanation

What you have to understand is that in the general population Sensors outnumber iNtuitives by about three to one. Throw in that so many of us here are introverts as well and it becomes rather apparent that we aren't all that likely to meet many fellow Ns outside of, perhaps, a college setting. It's easy to see how a good portion of us would get a bad taste in our mouths from so many people doing things that don't make sense to us, and for the trouble of trying to figure out why they do things the way they do, only to have them look at us funny, tell us we're weird, and if they're feeling especially beneficient, try to help us fix things about ourselves that would work just fine for us if they were allowed to flourish properly.

Parents, friends, coworkers, school teachers, classmates, and even the occasional nosy neighbor; all trying to pitch in and help us help ourselves to be more like them. It's a lot of backlogged irritation and misunderstanding suddenly given a label more meaningful and understandable than 'shallow,' and many are rather slow to grasp the merits of thinking differently than oneself.

All of which isn't to say that such prejudices can't be overcome, but it's a grassroots battle at best.
