The Keirsey System

Something which I have posed is, how accurate are the four letter groupings?

Suppose we have (marks out of 12 using the simple Paragon test)

Falcon One: Introversion 10 iNtuition 7 Thinking 10 Perception 7
Eagle One: Introversion 8 iNtuition 10 Thinking 7 Perception 11

Both qualify as category INTP but we may find two very different characters!?

Then we introduce an INTJ

Hawk Two: Introversion 10 iNtuition 7 Thinking 11 Judgement 5

Falcon One is closer to Hawk Two than Eagle One.

Just for the crack, an INFP:

Dragon One: Introversion 9 iNtuition 11 Feeling 5 Perception 10

In a world where most people are near the average XXXX, the whole system is rather vague. It is good for me as an extreme NP, and I see plenty of ESFJ, some of which attract the attention of forensic psychology in the Thieves Kitchen if they are extreme SFs and liable to go Crazy.

The key to getting to an INTP's emotional core is making it a safe thing for them to do... (Especially for the Male INTP but also true for our INTP Sisters.) Dealing with emotion not something we are comfortable with because of the energy that is there. Dealing with emotion is something that represents pain to us and generally in proportion to the level of energy present. Of the few times where the inner me has been allowed "out of the box" it has not been well received by those around me... the result is that the "box" just gets harder to open each time.

5.) Emotional. Be nice and do not screw with their heads. They can be sensitive. If you want something, ask for it. If you do not get all emotional and are willing to take no for an answer, they will usually try to accommodate any reasonable request. *hint* Socializing with large (or sometimes even small) groups of people for extended periods of time is not a reasonable request. This is normal behavior, not something you need to fix. It is not personal. If you like to socialize a lot, you have two choices: be willing to leave him at home with some cold pizza and his computer or find a different guy.

This type has given internal logic up for the external imposition of logic. This is usually due to severe bullying and ridicule as a child, which causes this INTP to be crushed to an empty shell – the perfect vessel for religion. These INTPs have no need for mere objective logic; they become masters of their religion, able to counter any argument logically within the confines of said religion. They accept the tenets and scriptures on "faith", and then feed it into their pool of logic. This type of INTP is incapable of losing an argument as they can creatively invent new logic off of old ideas. If their religion tells them the sun is a big chocolate square, they WILL FIND A WAY to deflect any argument that points out that the sun, in fact, is not a big chocolate square at all. The easiest way to end a debate with this type is "you are right" (due to the fact that they are incapable of being wrong, as that would require more pages of the dead sea scrolls which have yet to turn up).

Dogma: dog collar, the INTP is then turned into a ISTJ Guardian.

It professes to give an account of the lives and sayings of the Greek philosophers. Michel de Montaigne once wrote that he wished that instead of one Laërtius there had been a dozen

Socrates

Socrates (pronounced /ˈsɑkrətiːz/; Greek: Σωκράτης, Sōkrátēs; c. 469 BC–399 BC[1]) was a Classical Greek philosopher. Credited as one of the founders of Western philosophy, in reality he is an enigmatic figure known only through other people's accounts. It is Plato's dialogues that have largely created today's impression of him.[2]
Through his portrayal in Plato's dialogues, Socrates has become renowned for his contribution to the field of ethics, and it is this Platonic Socrates who also lends his name to the concepts of Socratic irony and the Socratic method, or elenchus. The latter remains a commonly used tool in a wide range of discussions, and is a type of pedagogy in which a series of questions are asked not only to draw individual answers, but to encourage fundamental insight into the issue at hand. It is Plato's Socrates that also made important and lasting contributions to the fields of epistemology and logic, and the influence of his ideas and approach remains strong in providing a foundation for much western philosophy that followed.

Socrates and Diogenes and Plato

Plato once said that Socrates had defined men as "featherless bipeds".
Upon hearing this, Diogenes crawled out of his barrel, bought (or probably stole) a chicken, plucked it, and ran to the Academy, holding it aloft and shouting,
"Behold, Plato! I have brought you a man!"

In response, Plato added "with broad, flat nails" to his definition.

My addenda:

After Sitting Bull killed his first man in battle, he was awarded a White Eagles feather.

The whole Millon system can be transcended, it could be said to be an illusion, or a supplementary overlay program on basic personality types. And basic personality types can be transcended (by personal growth) as well. The trouble with personal growth and acting outside the comfort zone, it becomes exhausting with the use of nervous energy.

Coping (Psychology)

The psychological definition of coping is, the process of managing taxing circumstances, expending effort to solve personal and interpersonal problems, and seeking to master, minimize, reduce or tolerate stress or conflict.

In coping with stress, people tend to use one of the three main coping strategies: either appraisal focused, problem focused, or emotion focused coping. (Weiten, Lloyd, 2006)
Appraisal-focused strategies occur when the person modifies the way they think, for example: employing denial, or distancing oneself from the problem. People may alter the way they think about a problem by altering their goals and values, such as by seeing the humour in a situation.
People using problem focused strategies try to deal with the cause of their problem. They do this by finding out information on the disease, learning new skills to manage their disease and rearranging their lives around the disease.

OBEAH

OBEAH
AFRO-CARIBBEAN SHAMANISM

PRESENTED BY:
...the Wanderling

In and around the world of the supernatural, the occult, and the underground dark-eddies of things spiritual, there are mystics, shamans, tribal elders, wizards, sorcerers, spellcasters, diviners, necromancers, witches, and all other types and kinds of controllers and purveyors of occult abilities, drawing strength and operating in other dimensions along the edges of the conventional plane. In the realm of all those practitioners the most powerful, the most dreaded, and the most feared is the Obeah. (source)

Obeah, as practiced in Jamaica and the Caribbean, takes the USE OF and KNOWLEDGE OF ancient occult powers orginally handed down over the centuries by word of mouth from the remnants of a once very powerful and celebrated SECRET religious Order emanating from a remote age that has long since been lost in the mist of time. Over the centuries most of the original tenents became watered down, with the less powerful versions of Obeah incorporating various modifications of occult spellcraft as once practiced mostly by tribal people who spoke Ashanti from West Africa. However, the most secretive, powerful and dreaded purveyors of present day Obeah comes undiluted from the old Order. Practitioners of same will sometimes use the less volatile aspects of their brethren, but usually operate well beyond the confines of any traditional witchcraft, sorcery, shamanism, voodoo (voudon), or tribal magic.
http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/awakening101/obeah.html

Obeah (sometimes spelled "Obi") is a term used in the West Indies to refer to folk magic, sorcery, and religious practices derived from Central African and West African origins. Obeah can either be a form of 'dark' magic or 'good' magic. As such, Obeah is similar to Palo, Voodoo, Santeria, rootwork, and hoodoo. Obeah is practiced in Suriname, Jamaica, Haiti, the Virgin Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Belize, the Bahamas, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados and many other Caribbean countries.
Obeah is associated with both benign and malign magic, charms, luck, and with mysticism in general. In some Caribbean nations Obeah refers to African diasporic folk religions; in other areas, Christians may include elements of Obeah in their religion. Obeah is often associated with the Spiritual Baptist church.

And I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun,

Ferret INFP Discussions
Shay....I think she thinks we inspire and motivate people and search for new experiences more than we champion a cause. So she wonders if we feel like the descriptive terms 'champion' and 'advocator' really fit who we are.
champion 2 A person who fights, argues, etc., behalf of another or for a cause. champion 2 Support the cause of; argue in favour of; defend. E19.
advocate A person who pleads, intercedes, or speaks for another. A person who speaks in favour of, for, a proposal etc.
Comment: I do not see either in this personality. I see visionary and motivator. I see an enquiring mind eager for new experiences.

Do you see your personality as an advocate. It is not my personality, but I may morph-shift this way. The merchants and thieves (ESFJ) want to protect their secrets from the Ferret.
It is the Guardians who see the Champion.
I isolated the parts I feel apply to me and to Keirsey's definition. Motivating is the byproduct of advocating. Educators (Teachers- ENFJs) and Advisors (Counselors- INFJs) more often consciously try to motivate people.

The example has been used before that Advocators are like puppies. They sniff around, find something they feel is really important, and then bark loudly about it to tell others what they found. Does this usually motivate people to respond? Yes, it can. Sometimes people just want the puppy to shut up so they go look at the finding, say, oh...thats nice...and placate the puppy enough to get it to be quiet. A Teacher or Advisor is more like a dog that is standing at the front door guarding the house and a stranger walks up. The dog barks and growls and if the stranger refuses to leave...the dog will lunge forward and bite the stranger (lets call it a gentle bite)....thus the stranger is forced to do what is being asked. This is not to put the Teacher or the Advisor in a bad light. My example is flawed....so lets just pretend that say...the stranger would be in danger actually if they entered the house so the dog is really doing the stranger a favor by preventing it from entering the house. That is how the Teacher and Advisor would see it anyways....whether the person was ever really in danger or not....sometimes they are right, sometimes they are not.
This is not to say that Advocators never try to help people. But they do it in a different way....and maybe that is also a source of confusion for you. A much shorter example that describes the 'roles' that these types play I learned from Angela. (see the blog How Advisors diplomatically contend part two) Advocators stand beside you and work with you towards a goal. A Teacher or Advisor get in front of you and turn you around from a 'wrong' path, if thats how they see it. Or maybe not always 'wrong', but not as 'good' as the path they see for you.
What do you think about all of this?
Yep, quite good, although I use the animal Ferret. When I am in this mood, I would do the motivating automatically (I do not need a role allocation, just a whim or a planned strategy, a whim more likely). I get very disillusioned by negativity.

They say when the Ferret bites (rarely) it never lets go. This is not my personality though. I would get bored by a Rabbit (not sure what animal, maybe ESXJ var.) hunt. The Mongoose variety can hunt Snakes (ENTP) and three of them onto one Snake could get the Snake to jestison its tail.

In the Grip (Discussion)

Hello Albert,

This is straight out of Quenk "Beside Ourselves". The INTP is then said to be in "The Grip". I have been in this position for at east six months continuous. It is meant to be intolerable for a few hours. Quenk is an INTJ or a lowish perception INTP so it is not as precise as it could be.
Strong emotional expression directed at us (Architects INTP) is not intolerable per se, only if it is unwanted. This is likely to be most likely because of the Pony (ESFJ) girls are the opposites. Direct emotional expression from the right person in the wrong place mucks up the intuition and this is intolerable as well, or rather the INTP feels powerless to act if he/she thinks they are in danger. Indirect emotional expression can be even worse if it is manipulative. If the Thinking is relatively low (say 7/12), and Perception is very high (say 11/12), it will take a genius to follow the thought processes. Low thinking cuts out Resolution and high Intuition (say 10/12) will bring a perennial archetype into play. The latter may not be a pure Architect.

The alone time is crucial, but the important thing may be to avoid incompatible people, the Irrationals (SF) and beware of the Guardians (SJ), so the Eagle (INTP) is likely to be screwed by the Horsemen (ESFJ) and most Rodents (ISFJ - XSFJ). Avoid the Ratman.

What they don't like is strong emotional expression directed at them and being denied the alone time that they need. If this goes on too long, they become highly stressed and may emphasize their logical thinking to the extreme."> >

This last line has me puzzled. What are some examples of emphasizing logical thinking to the extreme? Is there a difference in how this is shown in the work place versus some other setting?>

Archetype (2)

An archetype (pronounced: /ˈɑːkɪtaɪp/ (Brit.) or /ˈɑrkɪtaɪp/ (Amer.)) is an original model of a person, ideal example, or a prototype after which others are copied, patterned, or emulated; a symbol universally recognized by all. In psychology, an archetype is a model of a person, personality, or behavior. This article is about personality as described in literature analysis and the study of the psyche.

In the analysis of personality, the term archetype is often broadly used to refer to
a stereotype—personality type observed multiple times, especially an oversimplification of such a type; or
an epitome—personality type exemplified, especially the "greatest" such example.
a literary term to express details.

My comments:

I find that the Field Marshall (ENTJ) does not really have any visionary ideas at all, but just steals ideas and concepts of other people (maybe from multiple sources) so I am not about to give him respect for his dogmatism, which often extends to outright bullying (ESTJ) and deserves to be hated and I will walk away from any of these sadists. These types seem to have the greatest power to cause the most harm (even to drive people to suicide). They should slow down and remember that their dogma is just an illusion. They have the Providor ascertained to a tee and will tie them up with knots. However, they seem unable to tell the difference between a Horseman (ESFJ) and an Architect (INTP) under the inferior function (fourth process).

I find Providors (ESFJ) start from a rather fixed rigid position and they simply get totally spooked by alternative views (ENTP). There logical conclusions from their rigid position appear twisted for their own selfish ends. They behave like a Control Freak. Rationals (NT) clash with the Irrationals (SF). It is a power struggle.

Violence (Notes for the Book)

Each animal type has its own method and frequency, e.g. the Horsemen ESFJ is very likely to do a straight facial attack with his fists, whereas the Eagle INTP is more likely to use the glass in the face. The Eagle being the more dangerous when roused to extremes, but the Horsemen is roused by mild stimulus the Eagle would not even notice. Alas, the Horsemen feeds on the success of his violence and they begin to realise it achieves results. The Bear ISTP is likely to use a punch in the face as well. The Snake ENTP may very well use the stiletto knife. He is six foot tall Horseman and he is a dangerous offensive weapon. It will need more than a puny little knife to take him down. I am going to hide underneath the rock and spit venom, or fly away like an Eagle.

A rather boring interlude. The Meercats (XXFP) are OK hunting Scorpions (ESFP var), but any decent Snake (ENFP) would regard these colonial animals as prey rather than being on their menu.

The Desert Viper is teased by the Fennec Fox (XXTJ). It is a stand-off.

The desert is empty, the Sidewinder (ENFP) is at odds with the Camel (ESFJ var).

The Roadrunner (IXXJ) is not formidable being too small.

The Harris Hawk (INTJ) perches on a Cactus.

The Political Map of the UK

As an example, take a look at the ground that the main English parties in the UK's 2003 local elections (May 1) occupied in reality. The difference between the BNP and the Greens in economics isn't great, but there's a huge gap on the social scale. Neither scale, however, reveals enormous distances between the Conservatives and New Labour.

The Political Compass

The Political Compass

If we recognise that this is essentially an economic line it's fine, as far as it goes. We can show, for example, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and Pol Pot, with their commitment to a totally controlled economy, on the hard left. Socialists like Mahatma Gandhi and Robert Mugabe would occupy a less extreme leftist position. Margaret Thatcher would be well over to the right, but further right still would be someone like that ultimate free marketeer, General Pinochet. That deals with economics, but the social dimension is also important in politics. That's the one that the mere left-right scale doesn't adequately address. So we've added one, ranging in positions from extreme authoritarian to extreme libertarian.

Mine:

Comment: It is the wrong way up. High brow (liberty-social) should be at the top and low life (authority ruled) should be at the bottom. The right represents property interests (ownership, possessions and violence).

The Inner Child

The Inner Child refers to your emotional body. Carl Jung called it the 'Divine Child'. Emmet Fox called it the 'Wonder Child'. Charles Whitfield called it the 'Child Within'. Some psychotherapists call it the 'True Self'. Our personalities emerge as a result of our genetic code, DNA, or inherited characteristics, and the environment in which we experience. Childhood is dictated by those who raise us and often causes scars that will take years to heal. For the most part, our issues go back to childhood and what impacted on our emotional and physical bodies at that time. The inner child remains with us all of our lives. We are all children at heart, innocently searching for our meaning in life.

Archetypes

Archetypes are, according to Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, innate universal psychic dispositions that form the substrate from which the basic themes of human life emerge. Being universal and innate, their influence can be detected in the form of myths, symbols, rituals and instincts of human beings. Archetypes are components of the collective unconscious and serve to organize, direct and inform human thought and behaviour.
According to Jung, archetypes heavily influence the human life cycle, propelling a neurologically hard-wired sequence which he called the stages of life.

Crazy Horse (the Mare)

I think there is a truism, "you can only control your perceptions, you cannot control other people".

Tell that to the Camel Heads and Horsemen, or the Pony girls (ESFJ). They can spread the malicious rumours and lies, but that is as far as it gets. They then become crazy rather than just irrational (SF).
This does not mean they will be locked up. They are crazy, but still violent and logical. Then they have to be tied up so they cannot harm other people.

Chestnut Mare
Well I was up on Stony Ridge after this chestnut mare I'd been chasin' her for weeks now. Oh, I'd catch a little glimpse of her every once in a while; she'd be off takin' her meal, or bathin';she was a real fine lady!
Well she takes off, runnin' up on to that ridge, higher than I've ever been before. We're runnin' along just fine, and then she sees a sidewinder, all coiled up ready to strike. Well that spooks her, and she jumps off the edge ...me holdin' on!
And we were falling down this crevice, about a mile down there I'd say! I look down and I see this red thing below us. Turned out to be our reflection in a little pool of water, about six feet wide, and only one foot deep ...

Chapter 38

All the Horses go Crazy

And the Wolf goes rabid.

Ghost of Electricity

Louise she's all right she's just near
She's delicate and seems like the mirror
But she just makes it all too concise and too clear
That Johanna's not here
The ghost of electricity howls in the bones of her face

I think it should be screams as it is not a Wolf lady but an Eagle ?

More Dialogue

The next woman who says with a cough like that you ought to be in bed, I am going to ask to tuck me up.

Only Ponies prance; all the other types just get agitated.

The Millon Map was invented by the Dire Wolf.

Chapter 36

In this episode, the minature Dinosaurs spitting caustic acid are let into the Council Chamber by the Rebel Freedom Fighters, with the Absurdist Party in power. Originally, the plot called for venomous King Cobras, and Spitting Cobras and Rattlesnakes.

Nature & My Problem Child

My Problem Child
“Through my LSD experience and my new picture of reality, I became aware of the wonder of creation, the magnificence of nature and of the animal and plant kingdom,” Dr. Hofmann told the psychiatrist Stanislav Grof during an interview in 1984. “I became very sensitive to what will happen to all this and all of us.”
